Trango, a new documentary presented by The North Face, ahead of its upcoming release.
Trango will be available on VOD February 13, following a series of special theatrical screenings and festival appearances across the U.S.
Directed by Leo Hoorn, Trango follows ski mountaineers Christina “Lusti” Lustenberger and Jim Morrison as they attempt the first-ever ski descent of Great Trango Tower in Northern Pakistan’s Karakoram Range. On May 9, 2024, the team successfully climbed and skied the 20,000 foot West Face of Great Trango Tower, navigating extreme exposure, physical risk, and the emotional weight of high altitude decision making. The film is as much about partnership and trust as it is about the objective itself.
Jim Morrison has also been widely covered in recent weeks for his historic ski descent on Everest, providing timely context for Trango and his ongoing work at the highest level of the sport.
REVIEW
On May 9, 2024, the world witnessed the first‑ever ski descent of the Great Trango Tower, the 20,000‑foot granite spire rising out of Pakistan’s Karakoram Range.

Adventure lovers Jim Morrison, American mountaineer and the first skier to descend Mt. Everest, and Christine “Lusti” Lustenberger bring staggering strength, endurance, and agility to this climb — all to dance with the universe on the way back down. WOW!
As expert climbers, the team relies on ropes, axes, ice screws, and crampons, sharing the risks for the thrill, the discovery, and the personal transformation that comes with pushing the limits of the possibility.

Now let’s talk about the breathtaking visuals.
Director Leo Hoorn — who also serves as editor, cinematographer, and director of photography with the Sherpas — brings a remote‑landscape vision honed on projects like All I Can, The Great Siberian Traverse, and Children of Columbia.
His mastery is on full display in TRANGO. Every frame is perfection: the snow, the sky, the clouds, the granite peaks, the camera angles. This attention to detail brings the viewer into a new perspective. It's as if the skiers are in deep meditation, while their bodies are flowing!
You can feel the magnetic power of the spiked Granite Spires that seem to guide the skier in a cosmic dance.

Each shot feels choreographed for emotional impact.
Watching Jim Morrison merge with the flow of nature, carving a luminous trail down the mountain, is cathartic. I burst into tears!
If you want to experience one of the most inspiring and thrilling adventures ever captured on film, don’t miss TRANGO.

“TRANGO is a cathartic, heart‑pounding reminder of what humans can do when they dance with the impossible.”
“Every frame of TRANGO feels like nature exhaling — a breathtaking fusion of grit, grace, and granite.”
“TRANGO delivers one of the most inspiring adventure feats ever captured on film.”
